Pinot Meunier

Champagne

It's quie unusual to find a Champagne made of 100% Pinot Meunier, the quietest member of the Champagne blend, but old vine versions like this can produce wines ith a winning combination of fruit and minerality. Here there is fruity complexity, peaches, green apples along with freshness. Although extra brut in style there is richness and weight.

Thes tate is based in Hautvillers, which is famous for its Abbey and being the birthplace of Champagne. It is also an especially diverse corner of Champagne to the north of Epernay where the Montagne de Reims ends and the Valle de la Marne begins. Laure and Clement represent the fourth generation to produce wine here. Laure took over from her parents in 2014. Clement studied with and became good friends with Aurelian Laherte at university before taking up work at Champagne Jacques Selosse for three years after graduation. For Clement, Champagne remains a exercise in blending across vineyard holdings The idea is that each of their wines offers an expression of an aspect of the estate's holdings rather than a detailed study of a single plot. 100% Pinot Meunieres - this is a great example of a Blanc de Noirs (that isn't made from Pinot Noir!). A really generous, fruity style - with red apple fruit and subtle walnut flavours.
