Mas del Perie La Roque Malbec 2022

Fabien took over the Mas del Perie estate from his parents in 2009. Here it is all about Malbec - the traditional grape of the Cahors region, in South West France. His vineyards are some of the highest and coolest in the region. He treats the different parcels in his vineyard differently, both at harvest and for vinification, an he ferments in concrete tanks, sometimes in barrels and amphora. This is nothing like old school, 'tough' cahors Malbec. It has the richness and dark fruit you would expect - but they are also highly aromatic, with gorgeous floral aromas, and are really bright and fresh too.

The la Roque is made from de-stemmed grapes, fermented in mainly concrete with a couple of barriques thrown in for good measure.  Deep and full bodied, inky dark in colour with dark plum and black cherry notes with just a hint of vanilla and coffee spice. While there is lots of structure the tannins are really well managed, and the fresh acidity finishes the wine perfectly. 750ml
