El Maestro Oloroso Half
Oloroso Sherry differs from Amontillado in that it receives the added spirit (fortification) early on. This kills the layer of flor in the sherry barrel immediately, so the wine ages entirely oxidatively. Unlike Finos and Manzanillas, these live for a few weeks after opening thanks to their oxidative upbringing. Lovely complex aromas of roasted hazelnuts, caramel and candied fruit cake. The palate is dry, with notes of salted caramel and roasted almonds. This is a great value wine like only Sherry can produce it!
