Sauvignon Blanc
Loire Valley
Francois Cotat's domaine is based in one of the greatest of all the Sancerre villages, Chavignol, where he creates very unusual wines. Late picked, then barrel fermented using indigenous yeasts, these are a unique expression of Sancerre, and his best wines can age for decades. La Grande Côte vineyard is on a steep hillside in the village of Amigny. Here soils are almost exclusively chalk. This white has plenty of power, reflecting the sunny conditions of the year. Its ripeness is softened and rounded out a little by 4g/ltr of residual sugar and a pleasing freshness.
