Avignonese are the most important and highly regarded estate in Vino Nobile de Montepulciano. As a result of the clay soil the Sangiovese grown produces wines that are a little darker, fuller bodied and richer than most Tuscan wines but with that tell-tale black cherry freshness that makes Sangiovese so wonderfully food friendly. Rosso is the lightest of the Avignonese reds a bit like a baby Vino Nobile. 100% Sangiovese, the wine is aged in oak for five months, and is deliciously red fruited and balanced. On the nose wild cherry, red currant and a touch of earth.
