Selosse Millesime Extra Brut 2009

Selosse Millesime Extra Brut 2009

Guillaume Selosse is at the reigns of the Jacques Selosse Champagne house now, having taken over when his father Anselme retired. Anselme revolutionised the world of fine Champagne, and his son continues with his winemaking principles. In the vineyard, strict biodynamic principles are followed, while in the winery the approach is distinctly Burgundian. The wines are distinguished by the ripeness of the fruit, the use of oak throughout the process and the minimal dosage. The entire process is carried out with the utmost precision, and no expense is spared as every plot is vinified separately, the barrels come from Leflaive and the ageing is all done in house. Part of what makes Selosse so unique is the depth of reserve wines, used in the Champagne. Disgorged in January 2020, the 2009 Millesime is a new direction for Selosse's vintage bottling, as Guillaume Selosse wanted to produce this cuvee from all of the six villages in which the domaine's holdings are located. WineAdvocate, com: "The resulting wine is spectacular, soaring from the glass with a deep and complex bouquet of mandarin orange, honeycomb, ripe peaches, freshly baked bread, almond paste and dried apricots. Full-bodied, deep and complete, it's elegantly muscular and multidimensional, with extraordinary mid-palate amplitude, ripe but lively acids and a long, intensely sapid finish." 97 points
