Lapuyade Jurancon Sec Cuvee Dentelle 2018 - Amazingly it's made by a part time wine maker called Jean-Joseph Aurisset and when he's not making wine he makes and repairs farm machinery! He does everything almost to the opposite of everyone else in the region and the results are stunning - pure, really concentrated and better than loads of white Burgundies (and without the price tag). If anyone can put Jurancon Sec as a serious quality producer on the map, it's this wine maker. He farms his 8 hectares biodynamically, which is incredibly rare in the region. In fact, there is only one other biodynamic estate in the whole region. The Denetelle is 100% petit manseng. The grapes are picked end of October to early November which is very late for dry whites. The low yields together with the 100% Petit Manseng and late picking is what gives this wine such incredible concentration and length. For one to two years the wine is then vinified and aged in old Bordeaux barriques. The result is simply amazing - rich, dry and very concentrated with great balance and length and tastes of lime, brioche and honeysuckle. The region is fairly unfashionable still, which means this is an amazing price for such a stunning wine, and is drinking now but will also age for another 5-7 years easily. 750ml
