Francois Rousset-Martin PP André Pinot/Poulsard 2019
Only white wines from the Savagnin grape made in the oxidative Vin Jaune ("yellow wine") style can be made using the Chateau Chalon label. Francois’s grapes are from the Chateau Chalon region but are not necessarily Savagnin and are made in a more regular, non oxidative style. So Francois has to label his wines as Cotes du Jura. This is a Jura red made from the local grape Poulsard and Pinot Noir. Vinified in stainless steel the blend works brilliantly. Really soft and juicy with bright brambly fruit and an interesting earthiness too.
