Francois Rousset-Martin Côtes du Jura 'Mémée Marie' 2018
Only white wines from the Savagnin grape made in the oxidative Vin Jaune ("yellow wine") style can be made using the Chateau Chalon label. Francois’s grapes are from the Chateau Chalon region but are not necessarily Savagnin and are made in a more regular, non oxidative style. So Francois has to label his wines as Cotes du Jura. 'Mémée Marie' is a blend of Chardonnay and Savignin aged in stainless steel for 11 months. It’s hard to believe there is no oak ageing – it is quite Burgundian in style but very much with a nutty Juar edge.
