Alamina Pinot Noir 2015
Alamina Pinot Noir 2015 Romania can produce some great value reds, and none more so than their distinctive pinot noir. Exotically dark, yet with bright red pinot fruit and some spice. The vineyard lies in the Dealu Mare region of the Carpathian Foothills, north of Bucharest. It was a long forgotten site, and was replanted with pinot noir, which grows particularly well in the microclimate of the region. Romania has had a long winemaking place in the world, right back to the Greeks, but most of it never gets exported. That is beginning to change. The vines here have good stories to tell, interesting grape varieties and good terroirs. As they begin to get their viticulture and winemaking up to speed we should expect to see a lot more decent Romanian wine - like this one!
