Here it is all about Malbec - the traditional grape of the Cahors region, in South West France. His vineyards are some of the highest and coolest in the region. He treats the different parcels in his vineyard differently, both at harvest and for vinification, an he ferments in concrete tanks, sometimes in barrels and amphora. This is nothing like old school, 'tough' cahors Malbec. It has the richness and dark fruit you would expect - but they are also highly aromatic, with gorgeous floral aromas, and they are really bright and fresh too. This is one of Fabien Jouves top cuvees, 40 year old vines make up the Malbec here. It is aged in acacia barrels , making this wine wonderfully pure with no heavy vanilla notes. Fabien Jouves took over this estate from his father in 2009 and now runs it biodynamically. This is 100% Malbec, from 25 year old vines planted in the highest and coolest location in the Cahors appellation. Its been aged in concrete tanks on fine less for 10 months. There's no oak influence and minimal sulphur is used in the winemaking.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eLovely lifted fruit on the nose, very inviting. The palate is deep and full bodied, but has a silky texture, with surprising soft tannins.
